Hi, I’m David — a children’s author, dad, and lifelong believer in the magic of storytelling. Through Clumsy Courage™, I create picture books that celebrate laughter, courage, and the messy, wonderful journey of being a kid.

My books shine a light on moments of persistence, silliness, and belonging — from Hector’s awkward journey to find his sport, to heartwarming celebrations of family in all its forms. Each story is sprinkled with humor and honesty, inviting kids to see themselves as capable, creative, and brave.

Before becoming an author, I chased big dreams — from attempting to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in 2008, to starting running clubs and coaching businesses, to teaching and coaching high school English and sports. For the past 12 years, I’ve built a career in marketing, learning & development, and storytelling, always focused on finding authentic ways to connect with people. Now, I’m pouring all that life and work experience into children’s books that help kids laugh, feel seen, loved, and encouraged to take chances.

I live in Arizona with my wife, two amazing kids, and our louder-than-we’d-like tripod dog. When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me running desert trails, walking the dog, cheering on my kids, or sharing a glass of wine with my wife as we unwind from the day.

Clumsy Courage™ is about reminding kids (and grown-ups) that mistakes, stumbles, and laughter all belong on the path toward courage. Thanks for being here — I can’t wait to share more stories with you.
